Senior Service Designer

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for a Senior Service Designer to join our team in Canberra. Our ideal candidate is an experienced design consultant that applies human-centred design to help clients understand their own services and how to improve them. You will work with other disciplines and project team members to deliver high quality work for clients in the government, not-for-profit, and private sectors.

As a Senior Service Designer, you will support the design and delivery of projects for our clients. You will have the opportunity to apply a creative, innovative mix of design methods to uncover insights and create opportunities for outcomes that lead to systemic change. Most of all, you’ll be part of a close-knit and passionate team seeking to make a difference.

Requirements

The background and skills we’re looking for:

• 5 years experience working with service design or human-centred design methods;
• A portfolio demonstrating at least two projects where you used service design methods to make the service work better;
• Can derive useful insight from complex organisation data and service modelling;
• Can use qualitative research methods, including interviewing, to collect useful data;
• Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation and communication skills;
• Can demonstrate visual design skill and show knowledge of layout, typography and hierarchy;
• Possess a strong understanding of information architecture, including multi-step flows;
• Can execute visual communication to a very high standard;
• Can tailor visual communication to meet client needs;
• Experience with modern cloud-based design tools and remote collaboration techniques;
• Willingness to help us to design and build a positive, collaborative, inclusive studio culture;
• Fluent in written and spoken English;
• Full and current working rights for Australia; and
• You hold, or are willing to apply for, an Australian Government security clearance.
