The Team and the Role
Commissioning NSW is a cross-government centre of excellence, that partners with agencies across government to deliver better services, better outcomes and better value for people of NSW. We are a cross-disciplinary team, comprised of four practice areas:
- Human-Centred Design: Designing with people and communities
- Partnerships: Harnessing the strengths of government, the for-purpose and for-profit sectors
- System & Market Stewardship: Fostering sustainable service systems
- Social Impact Investment: Investing in innovative ways to grow social impact

This role will join the Human Centred Design team. We use service design and human centred design approaches to challenge perspectives and help government make better decisions. This role is a great opportunity for someone looking to use their project management and human centred design experience to support the design of public services. CNSW is a collaborative team with a strong focus on delivery, reflective practice and continuous improvement.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Understanding of service design methodologies and practice (including user research and prototyping) and the enthusiasm to further develop these skills by working side by side with more experienced service design colleagues.
- Have experience of planning and delivering workshops with all types of stakeholders, from Senior Executives to front-line staff and people using services.
- Have experience of making design processes work effectively, influencing working practices and culture to support this.
- Agile project delivery experience and mindset or a willingness to learn.
- Understanding of government processes or a willingness to learn and a passion for improving public services and the lives of the people who live and work in NSW.
