A bit about the role

CityLab is the City of Melbourne’s internal consultancy—a purpose-led practice with the aim of ‘making government work better for everybody’. It is a place where service transformation is undertaken in order to realise our vision of being a leading capital city in a complex and changing world.

We are looking for a Senior Service Designer and a Service Designer to join us and provide creative solutions to the problems of the future. Reporting to a Service Design Lead, you will work cross-functionally in agile project teams that will play to your strengths and challenge your perceptions.

• Innovative and future-focused re-imagination of key CoM services
• Strategic and valued partnerships with business owners to deliver projects
• Thought leadership and knowledge that influences CityLab’s practice
• Design-led innovation and change processes that improve how we work
• Service delivery models that challenge and inspire business leads
• Passion projects that enhance CoM’s value to the community
• Service reviews that contribute to delivering effective and efficient services

What you’ll bring

• An ‘anything is possible’ outlook

• Real experience delivering tangible outcomes in a design-led way
• The ability to work at pace and pivot where necessary within tight and changing timeframes
• Natural creativity and design-led thinking, equally as comfortable with possibility as you are with data
