Bridgeable is hiring a Design Research Lead who is passionate and motivated by working on client projects spanning various industries such as healthcare and pharmaceuticals, financial services and telecommunications. We are looking for a strategic individual with experience practicing service design on a multidisciplinary team. Design Research Consultant will collaborate with a team to uncover insights, translate these into innovation and service design opportunities within client organizations. This is an individual contributor role without people management responsibilities.

Your core competency is research, and you think strategically, solve problems creatively, and working collaboratively. You will contribute to the delivery of client projects in which you will uncover user needs, design compelling experiences, and support or guide organizations to implementation at scale. You will bring a positive, fearless attitude to your work, with a drive to be relentlessly dedicated to quality outcomes, and a thirst for continuous learning.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Bridging business and user needs to come up with creative win-win solutions, often in response to an ambiguous client challenge, rather than a traditional ‘brief’
  • Understanding the client’s business model and internal dynamics as you use the tools of research to help solve their problems
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team focused on creating better experiences for users across different services and industries, including healthcare, financial services, telco and pharma.
  • Leading a multi-disciplinary team during the research phase of a project
  • Planning, conducting and analyzing both qualitative and quantitative research studies that elicit candid feedback from stakeholders and inspire participation
  • Using the wide range of research approaches in your toolkit, including but not limited to: contextual inquiry, in-depth interviews, longitudinal qualitative research like diary studies, co-creation and/or PAR, validation research, usability/task analysis, secondary research, trend scanning, surveys, analyzing data sets, etc.
  • Planning and facilitating generative workshops and co-creation sessions, with both end-users/customers, client participants, and subject matter experts
  • Flexible and multiple approaches to data coding and analysis, as well as synthesis, that result in actionable insights and design artifacts
  • Synthesizing multiple data sources and insights into concise communication artifacts that tell a clear story about the biggest implications for the client
  • Presenting directly to client stakeholders, often up to the VP and Executive level, to change mindsets and build alignment around the implications of research
  • Sharing your research expertise – and emerging tools and methods you’re seeing in the market – with your immediate teammates and your colleagues across Bridgeable, and the wider service design community
  • Supporting new business development at Bridgeable, primarily through contributing to scoping projects and building proposals
  • Additional responsibilities as required

Requirements

You have:

  • A degree or higher in Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Journalism, HCI, or degree related to Design Thinking or Service Design
  • 5-8 years of relevant work experience in a design agency, innovation consultancy, or in other insights generating capacities and working directly with clients.
  • Proven on-the-job experience with:
    • Research design and planning
    • Leading and conducting ethnographic, qualitative or design research
    • Analyzing and synthesizing diverse data into actionable findings with a clear ‘so what’
    • Helping translate both primary and secondary research findings into artefacts that support ideation and concrete solutions (e.g. experience maps, data visualizations, conceptual frameworks, etc)
    • Directing work of more junior colleagues
    • Managing direct client interaction and communication through email, phone and in-person
  • Confidence in presenting, discussing and sharing work Experience with human-centred design and service design

  • Adept at learning new software and proficient with one or more of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools
  • Hard-working and diligent; you know that learning and growth comes with effort
