Senior Service Designer

PwC

Ngā Kōrero mo tēnei tūranga / About the role

As we rapidly grow our Service Design practice, we’re looking for people who would like to lead or be part of a team of passionate human-centred designers. We are focussed on building a team that thrives on a wicked problem and acts as a bridge builder – finding solutions through collaborating with all parts of the organisation. So if you get a thrill out of solving problems for people, love to co-create with diverse minds, and are comfortable with ambiguity then please get in touch.  As a team, we:

  • Are a diverse group of people, all from different paths of life (and career)
  • Work collaboratively with our teams and clients
  • Are obsessed with the user / customer
  • Love our craft, and have dedicated time ‘tuning’ it
  • Create, inspire, lean in and have fun

What would you be doing?

Every day is different for our HCD team. We predominantly work with public sector clients – this means improving outcomes for New Zealanders. We are collaborative by nature, and partner with clients and experts alike to combine global best practice human centred design, te ao Māori principles and subject matter specialists. Right now our team is involved in community and government engagement, developing design and strategy hubs, supporting the strengthening of Crown-Maori relationships, and conducting customer research.

As a PwC Service Designer, you will create and advocate for the best experiences. Specifically, you will:

  • Design services and experiences with lasting impact on society, community and individuals
  • Develop service concepts, blueprints and other service design artefacts to help communicate experience and delivery requirements
  • Understand, analyse and map complex journeys and processes
  • Design & facilitate workshops to produce meaningful experiences and implementable solutions based around the needs of users
  • Be comfortable and confident with engaging with people from a range of backgrounds and quickly develop strong and collaborative working relationships with others
  • Be comfortable unearthing and synthesising insights, documenting research findings and presenting concepts to all levels of  client stakeholders
  • Designing and running rapid co-creation, ideation, prototyping and experience or service validation sessions or sprints
  • Be part of shaping our service design practice, tools and culture
  • Use your Agile or project management skills to ensure our projects meet the needs of our clients and their customers
  • Develop and manage key client stakeholder relationships and expectations
  • Coach and mentor team members, colleagues and clients on service design

Ngā pūkenga kei a koe / Skills and experience

  • 3-8 years’ experience as a Service Design practitioner
  • A strong understanding and appreciation for the design process and multidisciplinary ways of working
  • An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the critical shifts that are occurring in Aoteroa’s landscape around this
  • An innate ability to absorb and synthesise complex information, and articulate it in a clear and concise manner. Confidence to articulate insights and solutions across all levels of an organisation.
  • Collaborative, flexible and adaptable working style that operates with a growth mindset.
  • Effective problem solving skills that balance the divergent views of stakeholders
  • Clear communication that brings clarity and credibility to a wide range of senior leaders and executives.
  • A solid work ethic coupled with a capacity to turn-around tasks/deliverables rapidly, resulting in a consistent throughput of work outcomes
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to apply patience, empathy and a collaborative approach to complex challenges
  • Be high functioning and effective, while straddling the balance between being driven and collaborative
