Our Wellington office has an enviable roster of predominantly central government clients who value our specialist capability, agility and commitment to actionability. The Senior Service Designer position is a new role aimed at increasing our full-time capacity in the capital and providing a dedicated practitioner to specifically lead this practice.
The ideal candidate will need to be a Human-Centred Design obsessive who is proficient in applying the Design Thinking toolkit across arrange of domains and problem spaces, working both in an advisory capacity and integrated within client teams.
We are on a trajectory of growth and gathering best in class to join the team is paramount to our success. This role will involve the full range of working with client executives to define problem spaces, design streams of work and then deliver these within organisational change and transformation programmes (typically but not always digital). It will be hands on, managing other interdisciplinary practitioners and taking our clients on the journey with us. The Senior Service Designer will have a close relationship with our sister company Tātou, working together on culture and diversity initiatives with a Kaupapa Māori approach.
You will:
- Plan, facilitate and run design-based workshops with clients using standard agile design methodologies.
- Conduct experience design activities such as person and scenario development, customer journey-mapping and comparative analysis.
- Develop customer strategies based on known methodologies with actionable outputs like design blueprints.
- Develop design prototypes, wireframes, user interface specifications, site maps that capture requirements and embrace user experience best practices.
- Plan, facilitate and observe user testing.
- Manage projects, teams and client expectations.
- Analyse and synthesise project findings and write client-ready reports.
- Present Storytelling findings to client’s project teams and senior stakeholders.
- Play an active role in Sales & Business Development

Ideally you’ll have:
- A degree (or degree equivalent) in human factors, social anthropology, design innovation, behavioural science, experience/industrial design, or a relevant discipline.
- At least 4 years applied professional experience (state sector experience is not essential but would be advantageous).
