Are you a service designer looking for a slightly different everyday life?

Wondering how the police work inside? What exactly happens when you submit a report, and how does a police patrol solve a serious incident? Now you have the opportunity!

The Oslo Police District has established a separate section for innovation and digitization and we are looking for a service designer for a 1-year temporary position (from employment). Here you will join an interdisciplinary team that works with a wide range of tasks such as developing digital solutions, software robots, innovative technology on police cars, process mapping and improving document flow. The position is located at the Police House in Greenland and can be filled immediately.

A little about our section The section
for innovation and digitalisation consists of employees with varied backgrounds in law, RPA development, police and informatics. Our vision is to create a better police force through technology, and we work with innovation and development work in the Oslo police district. In practice, this means that we assist other units in the police with the improvement of work processes and develop new solutions to increase the efficiency and quality of work.

We are part of the Section for Digital Police Work and Innovation, which is the district’s technological spearhead. The section has, among other things, many of Norway’s foremost experts in audio, video and electronic tracks, and assists in the investigation of the most complicated criminal cases in Oslo.

A little about you
You like responsibility and enjoy finding the right solution for any task. As a designer with us, you do not need to know everything, but you must be committed, flexible and just as curious when the day consists of being in a police car for mapping or increasing the efficiency of the operations center.

We need you who see new opportunities and creativity is your strength. You come with professional input and will help stake out a new course in the established. Interaction with others is important and since we work with innovation and technology, you should be digital at your fingertips.

Typical work tasks

  • Insight generation : Mapping processes and gaining insight through the use of various techniques such as workshops and interviews
  • Problem definition : Define problems by, among other things, structuring and analyzing data and designing user journeys
  • Idea development : Based on insight and problem definition, develop scenarios and conduct workshops and user testing
  • Prototyping and testing :  Develop prototypes and user testing
  • Participate in projects and other development measures within the department’s area of ​​responsibility
  • Drive competence transfer within innovation and development
  • Maintain and increase your own competence within the position’s areas of responsibility
  • Take part in the other assistance work the section has towards the police district

Qualifications

  • Education at bachelor / master level, with specialization in service design or equivalent
  • relevant work experience
  • Ability to collaborate well in interdisciplinary teams
  • Good knowledge of Norwegian and English in writing and orally

You must have impeccable character and be fit for service in the police and a police certificate (exhaustive and extended) must be obtained by ev. employment cf. the Police Act § 18 and the Police Register Act § 41.
