Service/UX Designer

Oda

Oda

hat will you be doing?

    • UX research: Gather the user experience insight you and your team needs to understand what problem they’re solving and who they’re building it for
    • User advocacy: ensure we keep the user’s interest as priority 1 in all we do, and that we all have empathy for the people using our services.
    • Service design: Create customer journeys at the concept and detailed level for ensuring all elements of theOdas service work together as a whole, facilitate the cross-function teams and meetings to get all departments on the same page.
    • Leading design: Be responsible for end to end design in projects or teams. Set priorities and execute.
    • UI design: Create UI solutions that work within our larger system, that are useful, usable, and desirable. At some level digital design and UI copywriting.
    • Service chaperoning: Follow through on new services and features with roll-out guides, scripts, training, etc. to ensure that they are implemented, adopted and improved.
    • Contribute to the setting of strategy and vision forthe product.
    • Help develop our design culture, and the development of other designers, through sparring, design team sessions, and mentoring.
    • Contribute to the larger Odas culture through tech talks, best practices, recruiting, and external events.

We look for people who have:

    • Passion for creating great user experiences, in a sector where we are leading the way. There’s no one out there to copy from (they copy from us!)
    • Ability to anchor design choices in needs, flows, and behaviour-nudging, not just what looks nice or HCI best practices. Can translate desired results into a target metric.
    • Software comfort. This is a design role within a tech team. You should be knowledgeable of the properties of software, digital interfaces, and excited to work very closely with developers.
    • Question-askers. You should not be shy about asking lots of questions, especially dumb ones.
    • “Curiosity stamina.” Odais a complex system. We need you to go way down into the details of edge cases, software details, and root causes. Find out what’s really going on, see things through.
    • Systems-thinkers. Everything at Oda hangs together as one service and one value chain. Everything you do affects everyone else. Turning complexity into clarity should be a strength.
    • Data-heads. If you’re excited about the potential of data and design working together, this is your place.
    • Prototypers and iterators. We prioritise speed over perfection. A test mindset helps a lot.
    • Self-intiative. “Happy, but not satisfied” is our internal motto. You’re part of a team, but you’ll also be expected to how to best use your time.
    • Pragmatism. As designers we compromise and work with constraints, but we’re also ready to take a stand in the name of the user’s experience and craft quality.
    • Process nerds and lifelong learners. We are big on sharing knowledge, especially around how we work together.

We think your experience looks a bit like this:

    • 5+ years experience in UX-, interaction, or service design, with most of it in a digital context
    • Education within design, HCI/MMI, or similar
    • Proven track record with implementation of services
    • Past experience with coding and data analysis would be a welcomed plus
    • Fluent in English. Ability to speak and understand Norwegian is a plus.
