Senior Service Designer
CONNECT Care
We’re looking for our principal Service Designer –could that be you?
As a team of Co-Founders who all come from a service background, we know how important well thought-out service design is. Issa, our CEO, saw the power of this when advising NHS Digital on their national remote monitoring programme. Mehfuz, our Product Lead, has designed and created multiple cutting-edge services all focused around new models of elderly care. And Rachel, our Service Lead, has years of experience working in technology-enabled care and services.
CONNECT Care is now looking for a principal Service Designer to join us and build out our core team – someone that cares about making an impact on patient’s lives as much as we do!
To help us really put service design front-and-centre of our business and building on our work to-date, we recently just won a major £1mn grant from the government’s Healthy Ageing Fund, in collaboration with Oxfordshire County Council & Oxford University Hospitals NHS – it’s a really exciting project that we can’t wait to kick-off and you would be taking the lead on.
What will I be doing?
Working with our existing and future partners, we’d want you to get to the bottom of our patients’ and users’ needs, co-producing an inclusive and accessible service, and using this to inform and continually iterate our service journey.
You’ll also work closely with our Co-Founders and Team Leads (particularly our Service and Product Leads), leveraging their knowledge and experience.
The first major project you would be taking on is our work in Oxfordshire. Here, we’ll be completely redesigning the existing medication management pathways in the county around our technology, to serve as a national blueprint. You’ll be leading the way in helping us do that.
The project is focused on enabling self-care among older people, allowing them to age with dignity. One of our key principles is what we call ‘designing for inclusivity’ — developing this service around our accessible technology to address existing health inequalities and social isolation.
To inform your design work, you’ll be heavily involved in project scoping and stakeholder engagement – meeting and interviewing industry leaders, patients, partners and customers; this will allow you to define user stories and patient journeys, conduct user testing (with actual patients), and maintain a continuous feedback loop.
✅ We’d love it if you:
- Have a broad range of service blueprint knowledge and limitations
- Are effective in leveraging existing service design and processes
- Take ownership of the service design guidelines and system
- Are able to develop and document service blueprints and processes for handover to service delivery teams (in-person and partner organisations)
- Are excited about mentoring and supporting other team members, e.g. User Researchers and Product & Service Managers
- Proactively identify and raise issues, edge cases, and manage service design discussions and projects
Even better if you:
- Have a background related to health or social care
- Are confident building out a team to support you
- Can manage and guide external stakeholders and users
- Love to take ownership of projects, and are able to analyse them, solve problems, and propose improvements that align with our company strategy
- Are comfortable with all of the layers of the project and are able to execute or coordinate changes to it
- Are able to challenge and provide strategic thinking
