What We’re Looking For

  • Relevant past experience in Service Design tools and methodologies
  • Enthusiastic Champion – confidence in your abilities, approaches and processes, able to work independently/ autonomously
  • Experience or interest in advanced technologies. Hands-on experience in piloting in real life environments is desirable
  • Experience working in a commercial or government setting
  • Great teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Qualification in product design, service design, strategic design or equivalent is desirable, but not essential
  • Proficient using digital tools such as the Google ecosystem, Miro or Mural, Adobe Illustrator, Figma or equivalent. Confidence in learning new ones
  • Examples of previous work – a full portfolio is not required.

What You’ll Do

  • Supporting cross departmental project teams on commercial and non-commercial projects
  • Supporting in the scoping and planning of new projects
  • Be the person for user-centred design thinking expertise within the project team
  • Contributing to and running the discovery and design phases of commercial and research projects
  • Create safe spaces and times to facilitate design critiques and constructive feedback
  • Service design – User journeys, process mapping, blueprints and design sprints.Translating research into insights, ideas and concepts
  • Design Research – User and stakeholder interviews, observation, communicating research to wider team and stakeholders
  • Concept development – Developing strong project concepts that can then be built out into prototypes
  • Workshops – Design, deliver and support workshops with clear goals and outputs
  • Collaborative working – Be a strong communicator, facilitator and generous collaborator working with all teams at the Catapult and our wider collaborators
  • Stakeholder management – Working closely with team members to ensure relationships with all project partners are supported successfully
  • Demonstrate adaptability – Work with ambiguous briefs and provide clarity
  • This role is based in King’s Cross, London. We offer hybrid working. Some travel for client site visits may also be required
