As a Service Designer at Viable Data, you will be someone who can adapt quickly and easily to the flexible needs of our Central Government customers. You will join one of our high-performing consulting teams where you will play a pivotal role in designing & delivering exceptional digital products and services that directly contribute to the delivery of UK policy, economic growth and security.

Service designers design the end-to-end journey of a service. This helps a user complete their goal and government deliver a policy intent. In this role, your work may involve the creation of, or change to, transactions, products and content across both digital and offline channels provided by different parts of government.

Requirements

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for designing new services, or updating existing services, to meet user needs, working as part of a wider user-centred design team
  • Understand the user’s experience whilst using a product or service.
  • The ability to visualise a service including a user’s touch points, overlaid with insights
  • Map as-is journeys and creating new blueprints for services and processes across multiple channels

Mandatory Skills And Experience

  • An understanding of design thinking and Human centred design
  • The ability to design services that meet user needs
  • Understand the user’s experience whilst using a product or service

Public sector knowledge or experience, in particular working with the GDS design system and standards

  • Understanding of agile approaches and experience of working in agile teams
  • Experience of designing in a policy context

Desirable Skills And Experience

  • Relevant industry qualifications and certifications, or qualifications in Human Computer Interaction or Design
  • The ability to build interactive prototypes using code

Due to the nature of work, candidates will need to hold a valid SC security clearance, or if not in current possession of SC security clearance must be willing to undergo and capable of achieving SC security clearance (including, but not limited to, you must have lived in the UK for the last 5 consecutive years and also have a valid passport, birth certificate or residence permit and a UK National Insurance number).
