Service Designer

Our teams in Policy Strategy and Performance provide support to the whole of the Council through a range of activities.  

We have introduced new ways of working to make best use of the data and intelligence we hold across North East Lincolnshire, to work with our partners and communities to better understand the problems we need to solve, and to work together to achieve solutions for the best outcomes for our residents at a cost that we can afford.  

To support this work we are looking for someone who is passionate about working with our front-line services to improve the lives and the environment for the people of North East Lincolnshire.  

Your Role & Team  

Organisation and Service Design is a new discipline for us at NELC and we are excited about the opportunities that this approach will provide. This role will specialise in user-centred design, working closely with front-line services, our Transformation and Insights colleagues in multi-disciplinary project teams.  

You will undertake a range of design activities including user-research, developing problem statements, development of ‘how might we’ ideas and solutions, solution design and prototyping work across a diverse range of services through the entire design process, from discovery and insight to creating and testing new solutions using prototypes, supporting policy development and system change and evaluation of impact.     

Your Responsibilities  
The ideal candidate is someone who has demonstrable experience of designing services and who has experience of working to agile principles.  You will need the ability to suggest solutions to help solve a problem, and have a passion for human-centred design, with excellent communication skills that enable you to quickly build relationships and trust with service users and those who provide those services.    

You must be naturally curious, always looking to get to the root causes of problems, offer innovative responses and be willing to challenge the status quo.
