Job summary

It is an exciting time for HM Land Registry as we continue on a major transformation programme. HMLR’s ambition is to become the world’s leading land registry for speed, simplicity and an open approach to data.

We are now looking for a Senior Service Designer to join our Customer and Strategy directorate to help us to achieve this. You will help us design accessible public services that:

  • are simple to use;
  • and work across many channels, devices, browsers and platforms.

Job description

As a Senior Service Designer, you will work as part of multidisciplinary agile teams to deliver digital services. As a practitioner, you will work on the end-to-end journey of services across digital and offline channels provided by different parts of HMLR and be a competent service designer who can develop designs based on evidence of user needs and organisational outcomes.

Person specification

Areas that you may be required to work on include:

  • analysing and interpreting user needs and business objectives in highly complex service areas
  • helping to re-imagine how services can be delivered end-to-end and identify potential areas of improvement
  • working with user researchers, business analysts and developers to turn concepts into user-centred services
  • supporting workshops with the team, senior project stakeholders and users
  • ensuring that services meet the digital service standard, coordinating and leading in service assessments as necessary to provide service design evidence to support the relevant points
  • collaborating with senior service designers across the government to identify and design scalable, cross-government service design patterns and standards
  • growing our service design community within the design community of practice, building skills and developing our people to elevate this function.
