Senior Service Designer

As a senior consultant in service design, you’ll already be an expert in your field. You’ll also be a leader of people and teams and an advocate for user-centred design approaches. Hippo will provide exciting opportunities to share your expertise with, and influence, clients and team members, and to develop as a leader.

What you’ll do

• Plan, prepare and execute a range of design activities to support service design for our clients
• Lead project teams to analyse all aspects of a service and enable the team to build empathy with service users
• Identify the most appropriate design methods depending on the phase of the service lifecycle, such as service mapping, service blueprinting or classification of a service taxonomy
• Lead the creation of maps and blueprints
• Shape the service design community of practice and ensure it is able to provide guidance and feedback
• Advise on suitability of service design candidates and lead recruitment interviews
• Direct the work of others and provide guidance on how to use service design in a strategic context
• Have knowledge of, and participate in, several disciplines, actively seeking ways of facilitating co-working and improving the strength of Hippo’s multidisciplinary service design offer

You will be an expert at designing services from end to end and improving existing services that are underperforming. Your work will be primarily self-initiated. Experience of working with service/product owners and senior stakeholders is essential, as is the ability to take a pragmatic approach to meeting a client’s needs.

You will also:

• Be confident presenting your work to senior stakeholders, demonstrating how user research has been used to support the design decisions
• Manage relationships effectively, building long-term, strategic partnerships that involve regular and clear communication
• Have advanced experience with Agile, the GDS Digital Standard and service design principles
