Job description
• Provide guidance and oversee the effective design of end-to-end services.
• Develop designs based on evidence of user needs and organisational outcomes.
• Develop the service architecture and detailed service models for services delivered in a multi-supplier environment.
• Take the role of Subject Matter Expert for ITIL based service management and Service Integration And Management practices
• Determine whether service designs are fit for purpose and assess readiness against agreed service acceptance criteria.
• Identify user issues and important needs.
• Work with senior leaders and technical colleagues to develop designs across multiple services.
• Work with project teams to apply the service design framework and standards, ensuring that project plans include the design contribution, review and approval.
• Provide assurance that the solution and service designs have correctly included the current operational environment and the business and operational needs.
• Validate the outcomes of design, to ensure they meet operational, technical, architectural, service support and user needs for agreed BAU service delivery.
• Flag any potential service design risks and escalate them as appropriate.
Responsibilities
We are looking for someone who:
• Has the ability to lead, influence and motivate colleagues in the delivery of digital services.
• Has skills and capabilities drawn from a career in IT management.
• Has the ability to communicate effectively across organisational and technical boundaries, understanding the context and successfully reacting and responding to challenge.
• Has experience of delivering IT services using an end-to-end operating model for the creation, delivery and continual improvement of tech-enabled products.
• Will help set direction and embed good practice within our teams.
• Can drive ‘right first time’ principles to enable smooth service introduction and reduce unnecessary operational exceptions and costs.

This role will require full UK security clearance and you should have resided in the UK for the past 5 years. For some roles Developed Vetting will also be required, in this case you should have resided in the UK for the past 10 years.

Work location
Dstl is strongly encouraging blended and flexible working either at one of our sites or from home or both. We want to empower you to undertake your duties at the most appropriate location for the task, however you will be allocated a Dstl site as a base. You may be required to travel to other Dstl and MoD sites as required.
