Service Designer

The Service Designer will help research and design an insight service for the VCSEP and its partner organisations. This service aims to improve emergency planning and response through improved co-creation, utilisation and sharing of information, insights and intelligence. The role will conduct user research, prototype and test ideas for the service and its constituent digital products, and work with the insight team in the service’s development, delivery and improvement.

Key responsibilities:
Lead the design of insight services and digital products whilst identifying opportunities for improvement and efficiency within the existing service

Perform user research and gathering of insights from all users of the insight service and products

Synthesise research into user journeys, user stories, jobs to be done, personas, pain points, and service blueprints

Prototype and test the user experience of the insight service and its constituent products

Prototype and test user interfaces for digital products via wireframes and, ideally, in code

Work with data analysts and developers to turn prototypes into production

Design metrics for objectives and key results alongside Product Manager and Owner

Act as the user advocate during the research, design and development process, subjecting early-stage designs to usability testing or expert review and offering implementation suggestions from a user-centred perspective

Work closely with internal teams and third party agencies to deliver sustainable and scalable services and to ensure that these meet user and organisational need

Continuous improvement
Identify the potential risks and opportunities of/for the Voluntary and Community Sector Emergencies Partnership (VCSEP) Platform and information management, data processes and outputs.

Ensure that lessons learnt are captured and fed to the VCSEP members for future preparedness and response activities.
