Methods Analytics is currently recruiting for a UX/UI Service Designer to join our Sheffield /London Office on a permanent basis. This role will require flexibility to travel to client sites.

Methods Analytics provide strategic and operational intelligence concerning the activity, quality and safety of Healthcare services. Our team is comprised of highly qualified and experienced information and analytics specialists. Our focus is the healthcare market in the UK, however, we also work with a wide range of public and private sector clients including local and central government.

We deliver actionable knowledge on population provision, activity and outcomes to the public, commissioners, providers, policy makers and commercial organisations. Our work helps them base their decisions on comparable and transparent intelligence. We use a wide range of information sources and tools to ensure that our information is robust, and evidence based, and we work closely with stakeholders and the public to understand the type of intelligence they need from us.

Requirements:
The UX/UI Service Designer will be expected to work as part of the delivery team, with opportunities to support the wider Methods Analytics and Methods Group portfolio of clients and sectors. The UX/UI Service Designer role will be part of the Medical Examiners Service (MedEX) multi-disciplinary team with responsibility for designing the end-to-end journey of the service.

The UX/UI Service Designer will be:

  • Working on a blend of client assignments, bid work and internal company projects.
  • Responsible for customer satisfaction by improving the usability, accessibility, and functionality associated with our projects that is consistent with service design standards across the public sector.
  • Creating design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps.
  • Producing UI prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look. Along with being asked to prepare and present drafts and/or mock-ups to key stakeholders.
  • Generating multiple solutions to a problem and test designs for intuitively lead user operation and experience.
  • Defining strategies and policies, providing guidance to others on working in the strategic context. Evaluates current strategies to ensure business requirements are being met and exceeded where possible.
  • Actively soliciting prototypes and testing with others. Establishes design patterns and iterates them.
  • Identifying and understanding constraints and can communicate these and work within them. Can challenge the validity of constraints. Capable of ensuring standards are being met.
  • Making decisions to meet user needs in the government context. Understands the importance of assisted digital and can design services and make decisions to meet users’ needs.
  • Facilitating difficult discussions within the team or with diverse senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with User Researchers to sell or represent users internally. Understanding the difference between User Needs and desires of the user and to champion user research to focus on all users.
  • Prioritising and defining approaches to understand the user story, guiding others in doing so. Offers recommendations on the best tools and methods to be used.
  • Contributing to best practice guidelines and the Methods Analytics Playbooks.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate:

  • An ability to listen and interpret the needs of technical and business stakeholders and to be able manage stakeholders’ expectations and is capable of proactive and reactive communication.
  • Proven work experience as a UI/UX Designer working to NHS Digital and/or GDS Service Design Standards and having work scrutinised as part of NHS Digital and/or GDS Service Assessments
  • Responsiveness to changes in technology, adapting their approach accordingly.
  • An understanding of the sustainability and consequences of their decisions and can make decisions characterised by managed levels of risk and complexity.
  • A capability of resolving technical disputes between wider peers and indirect stakeholders, considering all views and opinions.
    • Experience in writing HTML and can add new tags.
    • Knowledge of a variety of methods of prototyping and being able to select the most approriate methods.
