Overview

Acuity is searching for a dynamic and talented Service Designer to join our DHS team. The ideal candidate will work with stakeholders to review and improve the organization’s strategy, processes, information, and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Uncover user needs through research, develop deep insights, generate concepts, and craft how people will interact with the products and services we design.
  • Develop service blueprints, workflows, wireframes, prototypes, and other design deliverables.
  • Co-design with customers, engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver human-centered, end-to-end solutions that meet needs of customers.
  • Understand and articulate how services need to change from a user centered, system, and business perspective.
  • Map service experiences of customers to provide insights for human-centered design outcomes.
  • Design, build, and set usability tests for service and product prototypes, working from sketches into quick prototypes that can be iterated with feedback.
  • Design with engineers and product managers to successfully deploy solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 2+ years’ experience of Service Design across varied users, business problems, and devices
  • 1+ years creating experience maps, user journeys and service blueprints, interaction models, flows, and wireframes.
  • 1+ years’ experience with rapid prototyping methods, ranging from paper sketching to digital prototypes.
  • 1+ years’ requirements gathering and communication between all design teams, workstreams and clients.
  • Ability to learn new software quickly; experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, InVision, Axure, Confluence, or JIRA is a plus.
  • Knowledge of and experience with applying user-centered design processes.
  • Understanding of areas of specialization within the greater design landscape, including but not limited to Design Research, Visual Design, and Content Design.
  • Ability to create experience maps, user journeys and service blueprints, interaction models, flows, and wireframes.
  • Familiarity with rapid prototyping methods, ranging from paper sketching to digital prototypes.
