Junior Service Designer

About the Role

You will be part of the User-Centered Design team at Admiral Pioneer. The role will involve exploring new ways to understand and engage with customers, generating insights, and rapid prototyping. As a Junior Service Designer, you will support the team to embed a service design approach across the Admiral Pioneer business. These service design capabilities will be used within our three domains to design and test concepts with real users.

About You

We’re looking for a creative and proactive team member who is passionate about developing new products and services across a broad range of areas; consumers, small businesses, and emerging freelance sectors that may include products and services in the insurance, financial management, and mobility sectors.

This role requires a multi-disciplinary designer who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and across various teams with different skill sets. You should be a quick and curious learner who can ask critical questions at the right time and someone eager to develop innovative solutions to problems.

It’s essential to have awareness of the double-diamond approach and the ability to move from design-thinking to design-doing simultaneously. Excitement about experimenting in a real-life environment is key, along with an openness to new ways of prototyping products and services.

Essential Experience and Skills

• A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in a design-related discipline
• Able to collaborate across teams and disciplines, such as data science, UX/UI designers, product leads
• Experience in conducting and analysing qualitative and quantitative user research
• Knowledgeable of service design tools and methodologies and how these can be implemented
• Strong awareness of human-centred design processes
• Experienced in empathising with users you are designing for and problems you are trying to solve
• Comfortable with discussing and developing ideas through visual communication methods
• Strong writing and communication skills; able to use clear and simple language
• Capable of prioritising tasks when working on various projects, making intelligent and intuitive decisions when needed

Desirable:

• 2 years+ industry experience
• Expertise in Adobe Design Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, etc) and other digital prototyping software
• Interested in the start-up world from FinTech, InsureTech to mobility as a service
• Comfortable leading internal or external design workshops
• Experience running and managing field experiments from determining the hypothesis, to set up and measuring results
• Have an understanding of the back-end system of a service – the processes, regulations, tools, technology, and design system

Additional Information

Due to Covid, the whole Admiral Pioneer team is working remotely. We will provide you with everything you need to work comfortably from home.

We expect you to be working remotely for the foreseeable future, however, once it’s safe to return to the office, we will have days when the whole team comes together to collaborate. You can decide if you want to come to the office between 2-5 days per week.
