The role

We are looking for an experienced Service Designer to initially join us for six months to help us deliver Project Connect.

We want good people, so we are flexible in how we hire.

For example, we can offer a permanent position, a fixed term contract or day rate contract.

If you are interested in a permanent role with us, you would go on to work across our business and brands, after Project Connect.

Requirements

What we need from you

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee a multidisciplinary team to scope, design and validate services
  • Be user centered; identifying, using and encouraging design-led and agile methods
  • Work closely with design team to inform design direction and key product decisions
  • Identify and prioritise user needs
  • Develop user journey maps and service blueprints to engage, test and story tell
  • Build and test prototypes; digital and analogue
  • Understand and consider constraints (technology, regulatory, financial and legal) to develop services which are viable, feasible and desirable
  • Guide effective decision making, clearly explaining how and why decisions have been reached (understanding real business issues and wider sector implications)
  • Stay focussed on outcomes rather than solutions and activities
  • Proactively solve issues and unblock problems, driving the team to deliver with empathy
  • Manage risk and multiple dependencies across the team and business as a whole
  • Communicate progress, key learning and intent across the project

Experience

  • Experience working as a senior service designer within complex digital systems (ideally in healthcare)
  • Designing new end to end digital services, as well as improving existing services
  • Experience of applying user centered methods including user research, strategy, planning, blueprinting, user mapping and prototyping
  • Experience of prototyping digital services, which use and rely on rich and substantive data and content (ideally in healthcare)
  • Advocating for design methods to engage and bring key stakeholders along the design journey
  • Communicating ideas clearly and simply
  • Experience of working with agile methods and tools in fast paced environments
  • Experience of, or exposure to, product ownership
