As a Service Designer at CivicActions, you will collaborate across disciplines to humanize and transform products and services for large federal, state, and local government agencies. You will also be a part of an active, growing design practice.

This position is fully remote (work from home) and requires a federal background investigation.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute design discovery, considering business and user needs, and guiding the client to readiness.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews and design research with an understanding of the rich diversity of government audiences.
  • Demonstrate good judgment in choosing appropriate processes and deliverables, such as: research plans, user stories, personas, user journeys, service blueprints, and systems diagrams.
  • Foster tight feedback loops between stakeholders, multi-functional collaborators, systems, and users, such that the team is rapidly learning, iterating, and delivering the highest value to users.
  • Evangelize service design best practices internally and externally.
  • Participate in and contribute to internal CivicActions design meetings, documentation, professional education/development, and other company initiatives.

Requirements:

  • At least 3+ years of experience in human-centered design, agile methodologies, service design, and design research
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills
  • Experience facilitating online workshops and collaboration sessions
  • Experience with an iterative design process: incorporating different types of feedback, launching quickly, and testing hypotheses.
  • Expertise with collaborative design and prototyping software and tools such as Sketch, Invision, and Figma
  • Excitement for contributing to the CivicActions design practice.
